Tied NBA games are decided through overtime periods until a winner is determined. Each overtime period consists of five minutes of play, and the game continues until one team has scored more points than the other team at the end of the overtime period. If the game remains tied after the first overtime period, another overtime period is played, and this process repeats until a winner is determined. In the playoffs, the game continues until a team has scored more points than their opponent at the end of the entire overtime period, regardless of how many overtime periods are played.
